We were approached by our customer to see if we could freeze animal blood plasma on our conventional industrial Ice Makers. The desired end product was a fragmented frozen plasma product that would be further processed to produce a natural protein binder to bond together whole-muscle tissues of meat, poultry and seafood. Sanitary requirements for this application were paramount. The equipment had to be stripped down and cleaned after each day’s production run. Therefore the construction of these 15-tons-per-day remote air-cooled machines required major design modifications from our standard units. All metal surfaces had to be constructed of stainless steel and any surfaces making direct food/plasma contact had to be polished. All other surfaces were given a glass bead finish. |
